These are 17 Killer Tips & Rules to help you become Self-Made and Self-Paid.
Some of them will be obvious to you, some of them will be eye-openers to you, ALL OF THEM will help you in your journey to the top.
1) Success requires a revelation, NOT a resolution
I don’t believe in coincidence, I believe in molding destiny and being self-made and self-paid.
To become self-made and self-paid does not take a resolution…
Becoming self-made and self-paid takes a REVELATION. A resolution is a decision to do something, but a revelation shows you why you must do something.
When you have a revelation, your eyes become wide-open to the obvious answer and you say “ohhhhhh” and then you gain an understanding…
You have always had the power in you to take what you want. Sometimes, the power just needs to be made clear.
2) You already know the answer to every question you ask
The funny thing about revelations is that they only reveal what you already knew intuitively…
The answer is always hiding in front of your face like the car keys you can’t find or the eye-glasses that are missing but are sitting on top of your head.
Truth acts the same way the hidden car keys act – hidden in plain sight. Too obvious.
The answer to success is obvious, but when you say it like it is, the answer just seems too easy.
Like an old Chinese textbook said: Straight-forward words seem almost paradoxical.
The truth about success is so obvious that it is overlooked and thought of as “too simple”, but here’s a free revelation that is totally obvious yet totally overlooked:
Success is simple.
Just follow the plan.
3) There are ONLY three possible outcomes to all situations
You always hear about “impossible odds” but that’s a joke. The odds are in your favor (IF… you try).
There are only 3 possible outcomes to all situations: positive, neutral, negative. That means you have better than a 50% chance of success in your endeavors.
In fact, 2/3 of any possible outcome is in your favor or does not harm you.
You have a 66% chance of nothing bad happening and you have only a 33% chance of failure… that’s IF you actually try.
What’s so impossible about those odds?
Nothing.
What is there to FEAR when the odds are already stacked in YOUR favor?
Nothing.
A 66% chance of nothing bad happening is very GREAT odds. Like Meat Loaf said, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
4) Act on your idea because ideas are useless without ACTION
Every bum in the world has ideas. What separates bums from bosses is in the implementation of the idea.
Bums have ideas all day long and never do anything about them.
Bosses get ideas all day long, but the boss always goes one step further – instead of not acting on the ideas, a boss will act on one or more of the ideas.
Acting on just simply ONE idea is ALL that it takes.
One mediocre idea + one action daily to make the idea a reality = money in the bank.
How to go nowhere FAST: have a million ideas you NEVER act on.
How to get somewhere slow, but steady: Have one mediocre idea you act & take immense action on.
5) Work MORE to get “more” done
Bruce Lee said “If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”
I said “If you spend too much time working on a thing, you’ll never have time to think about how impossible the odds are.”
What does that mean in plain English? Work more, think less.
Gut instinct gives better results than over-thinking does.
The best fighters in the world do not rely on a game-plan, they rely on training and instinct to win a fight.
Put in the practice (by working more) and when it comes time to do the work, act on instinct.
6) Teachers can teach technique, but they cannot teach creativity
James Hetfield, lead singer of the famous heavy metal band Metallica, failed english class.
How can someone who uses words to communicate and make millions have failed English class?
I also failed English class and now I’ve made a million dollars from my words.
People around the world who don’t speak English literally learn our language from reading FRAUDS & LIARS and listening to Metallica.
If two people who failed English class teach the English language to more people around the world than teachers do, what is the value of a regular education?
Many people like me feel that a modern education is not only useless, it is actually counter-productive.
Creativity is how you succeed and teachers cannot teach creativity because creativity cannot be taught. Only conformity can be taught.
Natural creativity is transformed into conformity at universities, and the only ones who escape with their creativity intact are the ones who already had unbreakable resolve.
Teachers can’t teach you how to be YOU, they can only teach you how to act like someone else.
But like Robin Black said: “The best do not imitate. They take inspiration and then they innovate.”
7) Influence is NOT measured by social media followers
There is a misconception that the number of social media followers you have is an indicator of how influential or successful you are.
Don’t make me laugh.
I was making 50k per month with 3,000 twitter followers.
The amount of followers you have means NOTHING. The power of your work and your word means absolutely EVERYTHING.
Social media means nothing without a powerful body of work and without a powerful body of work, you will never be influential – even if you have millions of social media followers.
I see people with 3k social media followers influencing “big names” all the time. I see “big names” with hundreds of thousands of followers borrowing concepts from my work ALL OF THE TIME.
Influence does NOT come from the amount of followers, influence comes from OTHER people carrying on your work and your words.
8) The #1 trick to developing influence
Authenticity is how you develop influence.
Here’s the simplest way to build influence: Write to yourself/talk to yourself.
Everyone wants the same things in life and no one knows you better than you do, so put them BOTH together.
Write to yourself and you will be able to speak directly to the hearts and minds of your audience…
If you want it, other people want it too.
No one is that unique of a snowflake, we are all human and we all have the same basic desires.
To grow yourself, simply get to know yourself.
When you know yourself, you’ll know how others feel and you’ll be able to give them exactly what they want – authenticity.
Helping yourself is the EXACT way you help OTHER people. It may seem paradoxical, but straight-forward words always do.
We all want the same things. Figure yourself out, then show other people what you did. What’s good for you is good for someone else too.
Write to yourself, create content that you would want to see. That way, you’re always writing to a person who is listening and not for some formula.
9) Creating your brand is easy (because everyone wants the same things)
The Chinese like to say “Wild times create heroes.” We live in wild times and anyone can become a celebrity or a businessman today.
Thanks to the internet, there are more living legends right now than all of the legends of history combined.
Today, anybody can start a TV show on YouTube and anybody can create a radio show on iTunes. There is NO competition, the audience comes directly for you.
They do not have to suffer through a long commercial break, they do not have to suffer through a boring show to get to your show, they come directly TO YOU.
Now they have choice in the matter, and if you’re good, they will choose to watch YOU.
How do you choose what to start?
Think about what YOU want to see and then create that. If you want it, so do other people.
Everyone wants the same things.
10) The power of the blog/podcast/video is enormous
You know what I learned in my MANY years of running various successful different Online Businesses?
For every one like or comment, a thousand people are reading but don’t bother clicking any buttons or typing any comments.
They are called the silent majority for a reason – they are silent and there are way more of them than there are people who comment.
What’s the importance of that?
It means people are paying attention, in a BIG way.
A huge amount of people are reading, listening and paying attention, even when they’re not clicking like or retweet.
I know they’re paying attention because I meet them all the time in REAL LIFE.
People are underestimating the power of these 3 formats: Blogs, Podcasts and YouTube videos.
These media formats are gigantic and it is these formats that will be the new Playboy magazine, the new Howard Stern show and the next best television show.
The blog, podcast and video are the media format of the future. Kids today can make more money than their parents – combined – in any of these 3 formats.
In 10 years, blogs are going to be icons and have books written about them, just like Felix Dennis wrote a book about his magazine business.
What is Playboy magazine, besides a cultural icon?
It’s a group of words and pictures people read and look at.
What is the Howard Stern radio show, besides a cultural icon?
It’s a man people tune in to hear because they like him.
Magazines are done, radio shows are done, television shows are done. Now we have blogs, podcasts and internet video.
Whatever you do, don’t underestimate the power of these formats.
11) Ignore social media for a year, concentrate on the work for a year
There are masters and there are slackers.
Masters build up a body of work, then take it to social media. Slackers skip the work and head straight DIRECTLY to social media.
I see this mistake again and again and again – people skipping the REAL work to do FAKE work on social media.
Do you want to become self-made and self-paid?
Here’s what you do: Concentrate on doing great work for ONE year. At the conclusion of one year, you can start to play around on social media.
If you start playing around on social media first, without doing the REAL actual meaningful work, you will NEVER get anywhere.
Social media gives you immediate gratification.
You do not want immediate gratification if you don’t have a body of work.
Why?
Immediate gratification will kill ANY desire you had to do the work, simply because you’ve already received your gratification.
Social media is like a magic show, it appears to be important, but when it comes time to paying the bills social media does NOT put money in your pocket – only GOOD WORK actually pays the bills.
Taking to social media before doing the work is self-sabotage. Follow the rule of doing the work for ONE whole year before you even think about social media.
If you want to make money online by being yourself then get in front of a camera, mic, or screen and say something valuable or entertaining.
12) Your network is your net worth
You can accomplish a lot by yourself. A LOT.
But you can accomplish more when you have other like-minded people to connect with.
Many people think they are alone on this journey to greatness but that is just not true. There are so many people out there right now doing the same thing you’re doing and trying the same thing you’re trying.
Meeting with those people and forming networks and partnerships will give you a leg up.
All self-made and self-paid entrepreneurs (aspiring or not) can introduce themselves and meet like-minded individuals of all ages from all across the world at many different online communities & in-person seminar type of events.
13) Have patience that PAYS
It is important to build endurance, both physically and mentally. Another word for endurance is patience.
You know what the best have?
Patience that pays. You have to be patient about the rewards of your work.
If you’re always thinking about money, you’ll QUIT.
If you’re thinking about how to make the business better, and NOT the money, you’ll get ALL of the money in the world that you could ever possibly want or imagine.
Like they say in wrestling, fatigue makes cowards of us ALL.
What do cowards do?
This is why you absolutely MUST build up some very strong endurance and patience that pays.
14) It is very important to speak your way to the answer
People have a lot of nagging questions about what to do with their lives.
These questions could be answered if they actually spoke the answer instead of just constantly thinking about the questions.
Thinking is great, but speaking makes the answer crystal clear.
To take it a step further, actually record yourself speaking every day.
Why would you do that?
Recording yourself gives you an added advantage of accumulating knowledge about yourself, your mission and your life-purpose.
The more you do something, the BETTER you get at it.
Like I’ve said a million billion times: The accumulated knowledge you get by speaking aloud and recording yourself each day will give you a FULL understanding of your life purpose.
15) TH_ P_RP_S_ _F L_F_ _S T_ L_V_ L_F_ _N P_RP_S_.
Some people seem to just float by, as if stuck in a breeze.
Other people seem to march by with their chests held high, on a journey to something bigger.
It’s like they’re walking somewhere on purpose, as if guided by something brighter.
It’s as though some people just know what their destiny is, and they do not fight it.
16) Time management is a scapegoat
Everybody has 24 hours in a day.
If other people can manage to fill their day with activities that make them wealthy and free, so can YOU.
“I just don’t have enough time” really means “I just don’t care enough to do that.”
“Time management” is a scapegoat for people who don’t accomplish what they want to accomplish. What needs to be managed is yourself and YOUR actions.
Find what you care about doing and just go do it and forget about time management.
When you enjoy what you’re doing, you can’t wait to work on it and time seems to stand still… seemingly giving you MORE time in a day to work on what you enjoy.
If you can’t find enough time in a day to accomplish your tasks, maybe you are on the wrong path?
Maybe time-management isn’t an issue you have, maybe YOU just don’t enjoy what you’re doing and you would thrive doing something else.
17) Question your life path thoroughly
My new eBook Monk Mode will make you question your whole life path. Actually, question is the wrong word. MONK MODE will make your life path obvious.
It’s up to YOU to do what comes natural, or to continue doing what feels very unnatural.
As you will learn… You CAN’T do it alone, but you must first learn to walk alone.
MONK MODE is the first step. The 1st step seems paradoxical, the 2nd step will eventually become obvious to you.
Until next time.
Your man,
