Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion states: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Don’t ask me what the first two are, for some reason I never memorized those, but the 3rd law stuck out to me.
Applying this to the sacrifice it takes to be successful at ANYTHING, one can see that for every action we take, there will be an opposite reaction.
To put this in layman’s terms:
If you want to be wealthy, you may have to sacrifice free time with friends and luxury NOW, in order to build real wealth.
If you want the physique of a 300 warrior, then you will have to sacrifice Sour Patch Kids candy, alcohol and eating Taco Hell.
If you want to become great with women, you will have to sacrifice some free time and energy in order to make this happen.
If you want to become an expert in a specific field, you will have to sacrifice your potential expanded knowledge in order to focus 100% in that one specific field.
If you want to become the best basketball player on your college team, you will have to sacrifice a party lifestyle in order to maintain discipline to become the #1 best.
On a personal level, there is one thing that I have sacrificed to a great extent in order to pursue my personal goals: overseas travel.
I’ve partied in every major city in the United States and lived in most of them, but have NOT traveled outside of North America.
It pisses me off a bit.
I won’t even lie.
A close friend of mine just traveled to the French Riviera and keeps me emailing me photos of pretty french girls.
Another friend of mine is in Milan and talks about the quality of the women.
Multiple friends of mine have traveled all over the world and are shocked I haven’t made the effort to travel, however, it’s because I have chosen to sacrifice this specific area of my life for a VERY short period of time.
You see, when I decided to focus on business and building my own empire, I knew that it wouldn’t be easy.
I knew it would take blood, sweat and tears and yes, I mean quite literally.
What I didn’t know is just how painful that process would actually be.
When it comes to living a playboy lifestyle in north america I’ve done just about EVERYTHING that there is to do and I live well, but there’s a whole ENTIRE world out there waiting for me to conquer it too.
Traveling the world is the reward I have set up for myself upon hitting my goal.
When you decide you want to be successful at SOMETHING, you MUST make a list of what you’re actually willing to sacrifice.
Be honest with yourself but ALWAYS push your limits.
After you look at your list, perhaps you don’t REALLY want to sacrifice enough in order reach your goal and it MIGHT be prudent for you to simply change your goal.
If you’re realistic from the get-go, then you can pursue your goals WITHOUT surprise sacrifices.
Sacrifice is painful.
Sacrifice is the EXACT opposite of fun.
Sacrifice is the burden on your journey to SUCCESS that you absolutely CANNOT escape until you reach the END finish line.
Once you reach success, new obstacles will arise, such as:
“How do I maintain this success?” and the such.
But the taste of victory is sweet.
A complacent man is a dying man.
A man who is constantly pushing himself to new heights is a man who will live a rich life and accomplish much.
If you’re struggling with the toll that sacrifice is taking on you RIGHT NOW, then know that you’re definitely NOT alone.
I can 100% certainly relate.
And let’s keep it real: it totally downright sucks.
But…and this is a big ‘but’…
It is the price we MUST pay.
Why are MOST people average?
Because they will simply NOT sacrifice their today, for a MUCH better tomorrow.
I’ve said it MANY times, but I’ll say it again: “Fuck Average, Hello Sacrifice and See You Soon Success”.
If you’re down and out and the sacrifice seems like it’s more than you can currently bear, remember your vision, look at how much you’ve already accomplished so far and get excited about your future.
If you DON’T sacrifice for what you WANT, what you WANT will be the ultimate sacrifice.
Until next time.
Your man,
-Elijah “The Realist”
