A man’s real strength is defined when things aren’t going well, NOT when they actually are.
It’s easy to be on-point, be happy and positive when EVERYTHING is running along smoothly in every aspect of a man’s life, but when shit hits the fan, can a man STILL be these things?
When the bills pile up and you dread opening your mailbox because of the overdue notices, can you STILL be composed emotionally?
When life continually kicks you in the balls, can you find the strength deep down inside to persevere through the hard times?
When you have no one and I mean no one to have your back and lend a helping hand, can you STILL be a man in demand and NOT lose your cool?
When life doesn’t just hand you lemons, but instead it’s water laced with arsenic, can you choke that shit down and STILL come out triumphant?
The true measure of a man is when EVERYTHING is going wrong and he KEEPS his emotions in check and STILL finds a way to not only survive, but to thrive.
If you’re going through a rough time, then I hope this blog post will encourage you.
If you’re experiencing real pain in your life and you feel as though no one could possibly understand, know that I definitely do understand and certainly can relate.
Just because I don’t dwell on tragic life events, doesn’t mean that I don’t STILL have my balls kicked by life too.
But instead of dwelling on the problem, I choose to instead dwell on only the solutions.
It’s easy to get despondent when there literally seems like no way out from a bad situation, but it is in the fire that our true characters are ultimately formed.
It is in the gutter that we form a rock solid resolve and steadfast Frame for grabbing life by the throat and NOT letting go until we kick its ass and make it our bitch.
This blog is NOT a rah-rah post intended to make you feel good, warm and fuzzy and forget about your problems.
Instead, I’m writing it to help you gather your wits and courage and face your problems head on.
Running from our problems will NEVER solve them.
Instead, being real men and facing them head-on and solving them is where we will find real inner peace.
As men we are designed to handle stress, overcome obstacles and accomplish great feats in order to enhance our fellow man’s life.
Let us be encouraged knowing that we do have what it takes to overcome obstacles in our way, we do have the strength deep down inside (it might take some digging!) and we can overcome whatever life throws at us, because no matter what, we are STILL men.
Men are designed to kick ass in this life and so we shall.
In closing, regardless if you’re an atheist or not, I have always found value and encouragement in this particular Bible verse:
“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
This week, take courage in knowing that just in you being a man alone, you have what it takes to get through whatever rough time you might be experiencing.
You were designed to build, fight and overcome.
Let’s take charge this week gentlemen.
I challenge you to do so.
Until next time.
Your man,
-Elijah “The Realist”
